Partnering & Building Physical Scores

This workshop introduces original partner work exercises I have developed over years of research at the Grotowski Institute and beyond. The training begins with dynamic movement sequences to awaken the body and break habitual expression, then progresses into partner tasks where our bodies are shaped by each other’s presence.
Why Partnering?

Partner work is a core practice because it reshapes us. We are constantly influenced by the visible and invisible — people, objects, sounds — and this training builds the skills to anchor our presence within relationship. Patterns of movement are re-shaped by those of the partner, leading to new, unexpected behaviours. In this way, form and precision never become stylisation but a gateway to authentic presence — alive, relational, theatrically exact.

-
Trust and risk-taking: falling, catching, supporting.
-
Resonance and awareness between partners.
-
Contact improvisation influences for tactile sensitivity.
-
Partner scores: improvisations shaped into repeatable theatrical structures.
What We Explore
Who it’s for
Open to actors, dancers, and all curious movers. No prior training required — only openness to risk, adapt, and connect.

Testimonials:
"Matej is an exceptional practitioner of not just the craft of performance, but also in the art of holding provocative but tender spaces for artists to soften boundaries within the self to deepen our own questioning. Encountering Matej's work has in many ways challenged the structure in which I have built myself throughout the years and that has brought upon inspiration and strength to allow for further transformation in my own practices."
